About The Proud Baron
Once upon a time, in a world not so far from this one, there lived a Baron.
Not a Baron of land nor title passed down by blood, but one who claimed their place through glitter, velvet, and unapologetic pride. The Proud Baron was born not in a castle, but in the echoes of a quote – words that struck like lightning:
“When I was in the military, they gave me a medal for killing two men and a discharge for loving one.”
– Leonard Matlovich
That sentence became the seed of a story — one where medals would no longer only honor war and conquest, but also love, visibility, and the courage to exist. In the Proud Baron’s world, every ribbon, every pin, every shimmering badge worn is a reminder: Pride is earned not through battlefields, but by daring to live honestly in a world that often asks you not to.
Drawn to the worlds of fantasy, LARP, and cosplay, the Baron dances between timelines. One foot in powdered wigs and petticoats, the other in neon plastic and high-heeled dreams. Inspired equally by Barbie, costume drama’s and history, the Baron creates characters and costumes that whisper (and sometimes scream): “We were always here. We always will be.”
The Proud Baron is more than a persona — it is a mission.
To tell stories that weren’t written into the history books.
To make visible the queer lives that stitched the seams of every era.
To build community through beauty, craft, and shared resistance.
Through each aesthetic creation, The Proud Baron asks:
What if the heroes in our tales wore gowns and carried glittered swords?
What if our medals honored empathy, self-expression, and love?
What if the history we inherited was only the prologue?
And so the story continues.
With every costume, every march, every photo, The Proud Baron writes a new chapter —
for the queer dreamers, the soft rebels, the proud romantics.
And you, dear visitor, are most welcome in this realm.

About the Creator
Behind the persona of The Proud Baron stands Robin, a queer creative soul based in Belgium with a deep love for fairytales, history, and costumes.
With roots in art school, ballet, cosplay, I discovered early on the power of dressing up — not to hide, but to express. Fantasy, LARP, cosplay, and the vibrant world of queer aesthetics became both playground and platform.
My work is heavily influenced by Rococo and Regency art, Barbie and Bridgerton, blending the soft with the radical, the beautiful with the statement of queer identity. Through costume, character, and content, I aim to both honor the past and imagine better futures. My younger Tumblr self loved Royalcore, Cottagecore and Queercore aesthetics.
For me, Pride is both celebration and education — a way to reclaim space, to tell forgotten stories, and to decorate truth with sequins and satin. Every creation is a small act of activism, stitched with intention and flair. But always with kindness and connection in mind.
When not sewing or creating accessoires, I enjoy reading queer (graphic) novels, crafting, watching fantasy series and films, dancing at (historical) balls, and continues to build spaces where community and creativity can thrive, like Statera Mundi University LARP.
